MPC Kinetic is seeking an experienced Safety and Environmental Advisor to join an upcoming renewable energy project in North Queensland. The successful candidate will actively champion environment and safety related initiatives on the project, lead compliance across internal and external systems and provide advice and support to the project team through the implementation of systems and processes to ensure an effective and positive safety and environment culture is achieved and maintained.

  • Ensure all works are executed in accordance with company and client requirements across Safety Management Plans (SMPs), policies, practices, procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor site HSE performance and compliance with legislative and client site requirements
  • Ongoing HSE systems review, development and implementation
  • Ensure all site HSE procedures are adhered to in the field
  • Provide relevant and accurate advice to site supervisors
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies
  • Partake in regular behavioural safety observations and contribute to pre-shift information meetings
  • Follow HSE procedures and systems and assist others on site to understand that these are to be complied with
  • Proven competency in incident investigation and auditing
  • Assist to communicate OHS compliance audit results and assist in the development of corrective action plans
  • Comprehensive understanding of current Legislation, Codes of Practice & Standards
  • Proven ability to influence high-level environmental and safety performance at project level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and negotiation
  • High degree of competency / comfort working with digital technologies
  • Ideally, proven experience working within Federal Safety Commission accredited systems
  • A current Blue or White Card, First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • Proven competency in incident investigation and auditing
  • Ideally, relevant technical or industry qualifications or certifications

About You:

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environment and/or Safety will be required coupled with relevant technical or industry qualifications or certifications. Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • 3+ years relevant industry experience within the Health, Safety and Environment field
  • Cert IV in OHS / Diploma in OHS
  • TAE Trainer and assessor
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing qualifications
  • First Aid certification 
  • Cert IV Environmental Management [highly desirable]
  • AHCBIO201 - Inspect and Clean machinery for Plant, Animal and Soil Material [highly desirable]
  • HSE Management systems experience
  • Applied Risk Management principles
  • Exceptional document and report writing skills
  • Formal incident and investigations training
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and negotiation
  • Erosion and sediment control experience [highly desirable]
